Perry's Monument opens

Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial hours change. October 1 – October 18 the Visitor Center will be open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 10 am to 5 pm.

Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial was established to honor those who fought and died in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812 and to celebrate the long-lasting peace between the United States, Great Britain and Canada. The Memorial, rising 352 feet over Lake Erie, is situated 5 miles from the longest undefended border in the world. The 352-foot tall structure is the world’s largest Doric column and is made of pink granite from Milford, MA. The column has a wood base structure with an outer concrete core. Park Rangers in 1812 period military uniforms will fire a musket salute after the morning flag raising ceremony.
